The ABA treatment is an intensive and long treatment. The duration of the treatment is very important because it changes behavior. To really change behavior one needs time, we also look at the situation at home because this is pivotal in situations like e.g. at school.
The current overview of ABA treatments look like this:
Treatment at home; this is one of the most commonly used treatments. As the name indicated the treatment takes place at home. The program can vary when it comes to the number of hours per week but one should count on a time investment of 10 to 30 hours a week. The program also includes cooperation with schools in order to create a consistent program for the child.
Treatment for parents; with this parents get treatment in the form of accompaniment so that they can apply ABA in their daily lives without a consultant.
Shadow program; this program makes sure that there is a "shadow" that is accompanying the child when it goes to school so it can participate in the educational system.
